| More and more attention has been given in recent years to the phenomenon of adult development. The purpose of this volume of New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education is to present an overview of adult development as well as several examples of strategies in action. This volume is based on the premise that to be most effective, adult educators must not only be aware of how adults develop throughout their postadolescent lifetimes but also able to translate this awareness into practical action.
